And my story below! ‘Freedom is a crucial thing for queer people to feel on the never-ending and very challenging journey of discovering themselves. I first started coming to Provincetown when I was 16, about two weeks after coming out to my friends and family. That intense and overwhelming feeling of joy and freedom when I first step off the ferry and witness the beauty of the cape is never not there. I came alone this year and just explored all week long. It was my first carnival too and it was everything I wanted it to be. Vibrancy and self-expression every place you looked. It was boundless and so inspiring. It feels like I can do whatever the hell I want to in Ptown. Not in a naughty way or anything (well...), but in the way that I can feel free to be, do, and discover whatever my little gay heart desires. I take that feeling home with me every time. I can’t express how much this place means to me, so I’ll just keep coming back for more.’
