The cheapest one Michelin Star in Singapore costs $6 USD, but is it worth the hype?
Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle is a hawker stand selling bak chor mee, or noodles with minced pork. The bowls range from about $6-12, depending on size and are filled with dried fish, pork crackling, minced pork, wonton, and pork liver.
We have mixed feelings about it 😅 the noodles are perfectly cooked to order and the ground pork, wontons, and soup are delicious. What threw us off were the fried fish, and especially the pork liver, which has a much more intense and bitter flavor the chicken or beef liver. It might also just be our palates but we don’t think the dish is a Michelin star, but for the price point, we do think it’s worth a try. Just try to go early to avoid the lines, or visit the sister hawker stand literally next door selling the same thing with shorter queues.
