Right to Contraception Act What it does: - Affirms an person’s right to access and use contraception including emergency contraception - Affirms a healthcare provider’s right to prescribe them - Allows individuals and the Justices Department the ability to pursue legal ramifications if someone is harmed by the refusal of contraceptive access Republicans claimed reasons for voting no: Cost It’s not necessary Will cause “more abortions to occur” and “kill our children” (I shit you not) per Rep Kat Cammack of the great state of Florida. What a gem. It is very clear that voting no to something as essential to healthcare as birth control is nothing more than a political power move with our bodies as the pawn. They don’t care about their constituents. They care about their own power, image, and control - control over the narrative, control in DC, and control over our bodies.
