Gua Sha is a medical treatment used in Chinese medicine. “Gua” means to scrape or rub and “Sha” is the term for the reddish raised skin rash that occurs as a result of the scraping. Sha refers to the blood stagnation in the subcutaneous tissues. We use a small hand held tool and perform a scraping motion. This ancient technique can be used to improve circulation and reduce inflammation, relieve acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain, support the immune system and address upper respiratory illnesses, and release tension in areas where there is restricted movement or stagnation.
