I've worked with many people who come to relationships with unrealistic expectations regarding how they play out. When things get hard, there might be an expectation that if it was love, it would just work out. Or, sometimes, people believe that as soon as they find love they will feel better about life - and sometimes this can be true, but we still bring ourselves with us into our relationships. Sometimes, we think that we shouldn't have to communicate with others. These types of expectations don't set up relationships for success and can cause conflict and let down. Instead, work to communicate openly, take care of yourself (learn how to respond to your needs, show assertiveness, and work through the pains and hangups you're experiencing), and remember that no relationship will be perfect at all times - they are a journey not a destination. 📚To read more about this, pick up my book I Want This To Work.
