After 4 years of the most insane roller coaster, I went through the hardest year ever; the year that I was the most exited about and the year that I always dreamed off. A year where I thought I was going to have the freedom to be myself and to explore those things I never felt comfortable of exploring while I was doing my BA. This year I couldn’t felt more misunderstood and alienated from the rest of the people that surrounded me. It may be that you don’t realize it but it is extremely hard to do art or any other creative activity in a space that culturally couldn’t be more different than your own. Hearing racist and misogynist feedbacks at school where I was being told to “make things for Europeans, and not Mexicans” by people that I used to admire was extremely hard. It made me feel more homesick than ever. I’m so proud of the result knowing all the tears and struggle that are behind this collection. I’m really really thankful to all my friends that were part of the Naty couture experience specially thanks to @amir.torres.d because I wouldn’t had made it this far if it wasn’t because I had him on my side through all this four years and because being the first Mexican Latinos graduating from this school isn’t easy. I think we really needed each other to survive. I’m so lucky I found the best person on earth and learned soo much from him. Also thank you to la beba @brandylaa for being the best and only teacher that was open enough to help me and understand me this year. Of course also thanks to mis bebas @emi.emmy.emy and @cuadrojas that hugged me and borrowed a hand every time I needed one. ❤️ This collection wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for all the help and support of all my friends, the new ones I did during this process and also the ones who cheered for me from the distance. I’ll always appreciate that you all were always here for me.
