The moment we make a heart-based decision, biggggg time protective measures pop up and show us the potential of our lives being ruined if we choose the HEART path. But I could loose all my income and have to spend my savings. I could be alone forever. My family could reject me. All my friends could vanish. And to those protective measures, we say, “I see you, thank you, AND I’ve got this. I’m still going for it.” I’m still leaving my job. I’m still getting out of this relationship. I’m still sticking my neck out. We have to work the “I trust my heart” muscle in order for it to become our default. Even if we choose the heart and perceive that “things went wrong,” we must stay the course. It’s the only freedom path. What I’m saying is that following your heart is a commitment. That commitment WILL be challenged. Things will get difficult. “Was it really my heart, or did I make a mistake?” “Should I have really left that person?” “Maybe I overreacted.” “My job really wasn’t that bad and the money was great.” “This is taking forever! Shouldn’t I have been rewarded already?” When we follow the heart and we perceive that “things went wrong” we can clam up, close down, and cave in, subconsciously signaling to the heart that we don’t trust it. We must ask ourselves: What happens to my life when I let go of my preferences to stay safe and secure in KNOW man’s land? Choosing the heart is a wild and rebellious lifestyle. It’s an experiment. Uncharted territory. A F*CKING ADVENTURE! When we follow the heart relentlessly, it requires letting go of immediate sense making. Letting go of outcomes. Of goals. Of specifics. Of perfection. Instead, we OPEN and we surrender to the unknown. We build the deepest trust and connection with our bodies. With our souls. We open to receiving and to the natural happening of creation. To open the heart is freedom. The truest wisdom. The first few times, it’s TERRIFYING. And we commit further. Building trust. Building confidence.
