This collaboration was so much fun!! Being surrounded by creative people feeds my soul, pushes me to think outside of the box and gets me out of my comfort zone. Finally had the opportunity to be in front of the lens of the insanely talented @jmarie23, wearing fabulous high waisted orange pants by @designerkojo , adorned with a custom chain & leather belt by @armour.rose (that she made and shipped to Maui within the week btw🤯) With Kauna’oa and the vibrant summer blooms around us as our inspiration, we all split and got to work. Kauna’oa proved to be one of the most difficult materials I’ve used to date. I fought with the waxy tangled vines for hours, trying relentlessly to untangle and tame them. Some things can’t be tamed, and that’s okay, work with the wild side and see where it guides you. Kauna’oa challenged me to unlock a more free flowing design side, reminding myself that it’s okay to let loose and have a few frayed edges.
