A few weeks ago @iambrekennedy and I were sitting at my kitchen table and she asked me how I was coping with getting older. I said to her “how could I be sad about getting older when my life only keeps getting better?” FULL denial mode, as I am with my feelings 99% of the time. Well this morning her and @marenmorris both released songs that completely tore those walls down. Like when I say they came crashing down, I mean they fell hard. 10 years ago I sat on my dorm room floor in Athens and heard ‘Who You Are’ by Jessie J for the first time and had the same sort of break down. It was like someone gave me permission to not be okay for the first time ever and that’s the way I felt again this morning. It’s why I love music so much. This world is not easy to navigate and it’s only getting harder with social media. Everyone always shows the highlight reels, but never the messy moments. So here are some of my favorite moments and then me coming to terms with aging and giving myself a well-deserved pat on the back for unapologetically loving myself throughout this journey.
