4 months after his brain injury, he started using his voice!!! 🥹♥️👏🏼 The nurse was in the room with me. I said, "OMG DID YOU HEAR THAT?!?! I THINK THAT WAS HIM!!! I THINK VON WAS TRYING TO TALK" Although she confirmed she heard him, it looked like it took strength to acknowledge that fact. Then he made more noises!! I seen how the look on her face melted as she heard him again 🥰 I was SQUEALING!!! 😆🥰 Although he attempted on his life, he was not himself when he made that decision. He was close to having a seizure. And anytime he would seize, he would have a MAJOR personality change. His thinking would be different. He even looked different! Before I made ANY decision regarding Von's life, I ALWAYS prayed for God's direction. I also asked for undeniable proof that I would know that direction was in fact what He wanted me to do. The fact of the matter was that Von was no longer his former self. There was major damage. I accepted this. I spent very little energy on wishing that this was not reality bc Von needed me. I accepted the fact if I chose to not pull the plug, I acknowledge all the challenges that come along with caring for someone who is chronically and severely disabled. Watching him progress slowly the way he did made me fall in love with him all over again. I could see and feel his desire to be alive and do what he can to get better.
