Glow (Julien’s Song) is out now 💛✨ Julien was a very close childhood family-friend of mine. When I say close, I mean he referred to me as one of his sisters. When he passed from Leukemia at only 8 years old, I was given some of the glow-in-the-dark stars from his ceiling. I didn’t know what to do with them for a long time. But, years later, on his 16th birthday, I saw them sitting there in my drawer and something inside me said to put them up. For Juju. So I did. For the first few days they were dark. And it made me sad to think so much time had passed that they’d lost their light. I decided to give it a few more days. And not long after, on my birthday, at one in the morning, I woke up to the stars glowing. I couldn’t believe it. And they haven’t left my ceiling ever since. To me, this song is a story of learning to live with loss. It is frustration. It is love. It is both the heartbreak and the healing.
