Shortlisted for two Oscars yesterday whaaaaat 🤯 x 3 x 2!!! For better or worse, the Oscars are the most significant way that quiet and unsung work in film can find broad recognition. And right now, knowing how much time and energy and heart went into this beautiful and crazy little movie, it feels really fuxking good to be “heard.” We all know these awards are very political, people run campaigns and pay loads of money for advertising, etc. The whole process leaves other hard-working, dedicated folks with just as much (or more!) talent without deserved recognition. Nevertheless, to find ourselves on two “short lists,” out of hundreds of contenders, is an honor. This is also a recognition of our broader family of collaborators who contributed to this score, many of whom have been a part of our musical family for years. (And, on that note, it’s so good to see our longtime friend and co-conspirator, @natronica, on one of these lists with us for his latest @knivesout score.) Congrats also to the @everythingeverywheremovie sound team, who are also shortlisted for their work on the film. Watching them was an *education,* and we’re glad to see their meticulous and wildly imaginative work being recognized for its essential role in the film. In the same breath, we also want to shout out our incredible colleagues in the hair and makeup, costuming, and VFX teams. Their work gave so much to this movie and we know that it will be recognized and remembered along with the film, shortlist or no shortlist.
