This idea is sparked by the fact that I ran into one of my old teammates from my former job earlier today, and instead of me speaking first, I gave them the opportunity to speak to me because I know they saw me first. When we made eye contact they were already staring at me. I have seen that it is a pattern that people expect for me to speak to them but it’s OK that they don’t speak to me. But if I turn around and I don’t speak to them first, they can run around and say that I’m rude.
