Most of these stores are in our #FAMSCOALITION of Black Owned Record Shops. Sadly, the total amount of Black Owned stores is less than 3 dozen. That wasn’t the case in the past. In the past, you might have found 4 or 5 in the same neighborhood. Of course the world of physical media declined drastically in the early 2000’s - but some say, the decline of ♥️🖤💚 record stores started wayyy earlier PARTLY (cuz we ain’t finna argue) due to being pushed out of certain incentives, deals and support from major artists and labels. Now some of the Indies play that same game. Some how the face of Record Store Owner - And Vinyl Buyer/Collector became one thing. I won’t say it- just look into your mind’s eye and imagine.
