Attention all throwing athletes! Do you have shoulder pain with overhead movement during throwing? You may benefit from dry needling to help decrease your pain and address muscular trigger points.
Dry needling involves inserting a thin Filiform non medicated (aka “dry”) needle into trigger points or areas of tightness within muscles, tendons and ligaments, ultimately helping to improve tissue healing and restore muscle function.
Dry needling can also be performed in conjunction with electrical stimulation to help accelerate the pain relief process and promote improved soft tissue extensibility.
While there can be minimal to moderate discomfort associated with dry needling, it has several benefits such as relieving pain and muscle tightness, improving ROM and speeding up recovery.
🎥 dry needling of anterior deltoid and biceps tendon of R shoulder
🔰Here our patient has complaints of shoulder pain with overhead movement at the initiation of throwing. The therapist has needles inserted into the long head of the biceps tendon as well as the anterior deltoid where several areas of trigger points, pain and muscular imbalances were found. Adding electrical stimulation in the muscles and tendons of the shoulder helps to further decrease pain as well as improve muscular stiffness.
