Rest In Peace 할머니🌹I know you’re back with the love of your life now. It relieves some of the grief I feel in my aching heart. I miss you so much... My fabulous grandma Rosa was an actress in Korea before she left her career and immigrated to Brasil with her husband and 5 girls for a better life. I knew she acted but never saw her films growing up. Her life before family was barely talked about- as if it never even existed. I always believed the films were lost during the war; however my mom never stopped looking. Last month we visited Korea and by chance, we found a film she starred in at a museum, fulfilling a life-long quest to see her artistry. My grandma taught me so much. She taught me Korean. She taught me about kdramas. She taught me Buddhist values about karma and about love. She never spoke ill of anyone; she taught me the meaning of dignity. When my grandpa passed, she was absolutely heartbroken. He was her one true love and she vowed never to be with anyone else. She talked about him every time I’d see her. She taught me a lot in the kitchen, from making kimchi and fresh dumplings to odeng and batido de mamão. 🤍🤍🤍 This is a scene from the film “The Wanderer” from 1957 where she’s telling off her philandering poet husband.
