One of our favorite areas in a brownstone is the entrance. No matter how much the rest of the house might change over it’s life, the front door, vestibule, and stairs area almost always remains the same as the original. We’re fascinated to think about all of the comings and goings of people through the entrance of a 130+ year old house, going out to and coming home from work or school through much different looking NYC streets. Today these doorways are filled with backpacks and lunch boxes as kids head out to the first day of school. Wishing all the families whose kids are going back to school today a successful year ahead! What a time!
