@_adventureswithsyd 2149.1mi . . . Woke up at 4am to catch the sunrise at the top of White Cap. I sat up there for a good while just taking in the view and enjoying having the mountain to myself for the morning. I got down to the shelter and guzzled water since I was running low since I stopped short the night before. We are trying to finish with good weather so I knew when I got to the shelter the latest and greatest idea was going to be to do an extra 4 or so miles. I was feeling good so I was down even though that was going to put me at 30 miles for the day. I enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the shelter and was surprised when we got trail magic later in the afternoon. I’m trying to soak up the last few days on trail even though we are pushing hard to the finish line. About 30 minutes before I hit the shelter a thunderstorm let loose so I kicked it into high gear and was booking it to the shelter. Right as I saw the first flash of lightning I was turning onto the side trail and the shelter was in sight. I set up my crap in the shelter and made dinner. After we were all ready for the night we were going to play a speed round of Rummy. The mosquitoes were so bad that after a while Duck decided to forfeit and carry the cards so we weren’t getting swarmed. . . .
