In the end, we’re all just a pile of bones ☠️
Happy Halloween you creeps! Honestly can’t believe we’ve already entered the holiday season, but at least we always start with the best one 👻
For starters, those that know me know that I’m not a huge fan of fish. I don’t eat raw fish, don’t like the smell, and was definitely NOT a fan of handling fish carcasses. Needless to say, making this mask has changed my perspective on a lot. Still can’t get past the smell, wore 3 layers of gloves, and 2 medical masks with a drop of essential oil in them and still gagged about 500 times throughout the process. But...now I can’t even look at a dead animal without seeing so much potential to create.
This is the most involved I’ve ever gotten with a material for mask making. It all started with raw fish carcasses in a trash bag. I boiled, soaked, scrubbed, and organized bones for days until they were clean and dry enough to work with. The coolest thing to me was the skeleton is so symmetrical that I had perfect pairs of every shape to mirror themselves. The most tedious part was actually spending hours sorting through a huge pile of bones. It was kinda like playing a weird, twisted version of Concentration.
Favorite part has to be the butterfly shape on the nose piece. Sea fans sprayed blue in background and foreground for the underwater effect. Earrings made from fish vertebrae🐟
