Soup Joumou. 🇭🇹✨ Every New Year’s Day the Haitian diaspora all over the world cooks and serves Soup Joumou. Soup Joumou is a delicious and important squash and vegetable soup in Haitian culture. It is very savory, well seasoned and comforting. The soup's ingredients were only eaten in Haiti by French colonizers until rebel slaves defeated them in 1804 after twelve years of revolution. We eat Soup Joumou in honor of the anniversary of Haiti becoming the world's first Black Republic. Soup Joumou has recently been awarded protected cultural heritage status by UNESCO. 🙌🏾✨ We can’t wait to serve you Soup Joumou again when we open!
