Can’t believe we’ve lived here for a little over a year! 💜
You truly never know where life may take you! I never thought in a million years that we would leave LA. And moving to Santa Ynez never once crossed my mind. But months deep into the pandemic, with two little ones on lockdown in the city and an overwhelming amount of world uncertainty, we took a drive. Two hours north along the 101 coastline.
The sparkly Pacific Ocean had never looked more radiant. A bath of glittery blue with the occasional surfer bobbing near the shore, not an umbrella or person to be seen on the sand. Somewhere along the highway we drove by an American flag, waving proudly, and it captivated my attention. I watched as it filled up with air. Graceful ripples as it expanded, fifty stars exposed when in full glory. The red, white and blue felt strong which reminded me I felt weak. Exhausted and demoralized, my eyes welted up. I slightly lifted my chin to keep the tears from falling down my cheeks then turned up the music.
We exited the 101 and veered to the right onto the 154, entering a new world. We were a spaceship and had landed on the moon. A landscape more beautiful than any I had ever seen: vast, untouched, soft hues of purples bouncing off the mountains, wild horses, bright yellow wildflowers, a crystal clear lake and detoxifying air. I felt a sense of calm for the first time since March as did the crying baby and chatty toddler behind me as they both suddenly hushed. Eyes starring out the window at the unworldly terrain.
We arrived to our destination, let out a sigh of relief and made an offer the next day.
