This is not the first time the city of Sanandaj (Capital of Kurdistan Province) has been subjected to systematic attacks by the government. In April 1979, following the Revolution, Sanandaj residents carried out a 24-days-long resistance to oppose the establishment of the Islamic Republic. Ever since the account of this resistance has been transmitted from generation to generation. The Islamic Republic’s leadership put an end to their resistance with heavy fire and indiscriminate targeting of civilians by anti-riot forces. In the past week, protests in Sanandaj have been centered in the residential complex of Maskan-e Mehr, close to the Baharan and Vilashahr areas. These locations are home to 20,000-25,000 individuals, most of whom are from low-income communities. The crackdowns in Sanandaj have been severe. From the evidence of bullets that are left behind, it is evident that anti-riot forces have been using a variety of weapons, including paintball guns, assault rifles, and gas canisters. On October 9th, the names of four individuals, who were killed during the crackdown, were released: Dariush Alizadeh, Mohammad Amini, Yahya Rahimi, and Peyman Menbari. این اولین باری نیست که شهر سنندج، مرکز استان کردستان، به صورت سیستماتیک، مورد حملات حکومت قرار می‌گیرد. پس از انقلاب بهمن ۱۳۵۷، مقاومت ۲۴ روزه مردم سنندج در اردیبهشت ۱۳۵۸ با هدف مخالفت با تاسیس جمهوری اسلامی ایران به عنوان یکی از کانون‌های اصلی مقاومت بر علیه حکومت شناخته شد. این دوره نمادین مقاومت با حمله به داخل شهر سنندج و هدف قرار دادن بی‌رویه شهروندان توسط نیروهای ضد شورش به پایان رسید. اعتراضات شهر سنندج در هفته گذشته به ویژه در منطقه «مجتمع خانه‌های مسکن مهر» در نزدیکی شهرک‌های بهاران و ویلاشهر متمرکز بوده است. این شهرک‌ها محل سکونت ۲۰ تا ۲۵ هزار نفر است که بیشتر آنها از طبقات کم‌درآمد جامعه هستند. سرکوب‌ها در سنندج بسیار شدید بوده است. از پوکه گلوله‌هایی که در خیابان و داخل خانه‌های مردم به جا مانده می‌توان دید که از انواع سلاح از جمله تفنگ‌های پینت بال، سلاح جنگی و گاز اشک آور استفاده شده است. تنها در روز ۱۶ مهر، اسامی ۴ کشته به نام‌های داریوش علیزاده، محمد امینی، یحیی رحیمی، و پیمان منبری منتشر شد. #iranprotests #iran #mahsaamini #opiran
