Because I don’t do enough things (🙃) at the end of October I started an 8 week olympic weightlifting course after nagging Thomas to let me join level 3. I learned it’s a super technique focused, mentally challenging sport and so much harder than it looks (& I regretted signing up week 1) but I also learned I can do hard things, I don’t have to be perfect all the time and I am so much stronger than I ever thought I could be. Then a competition came up and it was the furthest thing from my mind. I don’t like doing things I’m not already good at (shocker) but I jokingly told @the_iron_goddess_of_mercy “if you do I’ll do it”...I didn’t know her very well at the time but she’ll do pretty much anything and it was too late once I committed lol After months of training, our team headed to Brooklyn this past weekend to compete in the Murder of Crows open. I am so proud of how far I’ve come from not being able to do any complexes to hitting the platform in a competition! Thank you to my coaches for consistently showing up for and pushing us, programming our sessions, and highlighting our strength when we doubted it. @hardbodyboat is a really fantastic coach and I wouldn’t be this far along my fitness journey without him. Shoutout to the entire @uptownstrengthnyc family who came out to support us, my mommy who is always in my corner & especially my hubby bubby who is my biggest fan 🖤. & my Ang! Thanks for staying late with me in the gym, encouraging me to lift heavier and checking in regularly to make sure I wasn’t going to quit lol #RushHour #BooandFoo #ChineseChickpea #NigerianNightmare #Sweet16s
