The circumstances in Afghanistan is a cause for utter concern. The worries of uncertainty uprises more than ever. There are many questions that emerge and need to be answered. Seemingly the Taliban have stated that they will in fact respect universal human rights specially women’s rights. But it shows otherwise. Will the minorities be tolerated and respectfully let leave peacefully, as Islam teaches? Will there be accountability for each of their actions? Will the national resources be protected? Only time will reveal. But for now, civilians require Immediate help. With all the sanctions the Taliban are facing, Afghanistan will not receive any help from other countries. We as a nation have to help our people. It is said that the Taliban have offered amnesty to the Afghans who have worked for the government. Though these promises are yet to be fulfilled.
Just as we’ve seen thus far how the Taliban leaders have had a positive attitude and tolerance towards women rights but their foot soldiers are doing the complete opposite.
We may have many differences, beliefs we must leave all that behind.. Right now Afghanistan is facing a humanitarian crisis and despite our political views, we must come together and help our people. We have to stop waiting for assistance and waiting for the white ‘saviours’ to come and save our people. We must break this cycle of people speaking and stepping up for us It’s time we come together and meet the immediate requirements at once.
