Once I was a little boy who was terrified people would find out who I really was. Today I stood at the White House and felt visible and proud as a gay man. It was so moving to be present for the signing of the bill that protects our marriage with so many people who fought to make it a reality. So proud to have an administration that recognizes us as equal. I held it together until Cyndi Lauper sang “True Colors”. She’s been standing with us for the longest time. There were lots of tears in the audience during that. But mostly we sang and danced and gave thanks for all those—mostly unknown folks far and wide— who worked so hard to get us this far. Extra special to celebrate with such faithful friends like Nick and Chris who are always aiming for equality and justice. A great day. #RespectForMarriageAct
