Ciao everyone!! My name is Mia and I am a part of TS313: International Textile Development in Italy. For the past 3 weeks my class and I have been in Milan and traveling to textile mills, stores, and museums to learn all about what makes Italian textiles the best in the industry and learn A LOT about sustainability. So excited to be sharing what we’ve been seeing and doing for the past few weeks starting off with week one!
Week 1:
- Visited @reda1865 in Biella to learn how they make their textiles out of top quality wool and why they are one of the most sustainable mills in the world.
- Took a trip to @candianidenim in Milan where we got a very in depth presentation on their entire production process and learned about their amazing collaboration with UNECE.
- Was invited to @loropianaofficial home textiles exhibition for design week and got to sit on $60k couch.
- Had a two day trip to @albini1876 and @albini_next in Bergamo to learn about their sustainability mission and see how they make their high end fabrics out of cotton.
- And of course had a lot of good food 🇮🇹
