Happy World Elephant Day! 🐘💙🌱 Elephants are the world's largest mammal and one of the most beloved! They can weigh up to 16,000 pounds and stand up to 10 feet tall🙊 The way you can tell different species apart is by their ear shape. For example, African elephants have ears the shape of the continent Africa and Asian elephant ears are the shape of India! To tell the age of an elephant you can look at their tusks. An elephant's tusks never stop growing. The longer their tusks the older the elephant! 🌍 We have several projects that benefit elephant habitats in both Africa, India, and Indonesia! These photos are from our project in Tanzania where farmers are planting trees to improve water retention, reduce soil temperatures, and increase soil moisture, water supply, and crop yields. The other agricultural improvements improve the soil carbon, and thus improve fertility and production.
