We use our muscles daily for the smallest and the biggest tasks. 💪🏼
It’s a common misconception that skin is the largest organ in the body. Muscle is. It makes up 40% of our body mass.
It’s, perhaps, the most critical organ system as it relates to combatting our current health crisis, regaining exceptional health, and maximizing physical performance.
As we age, we are all losing muscular mass. Unfortunately, the natural loss of muscle mass and strength as we age is associated with many chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease and stroke, hypertension, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes.
For these reasons, it’s especially important to maintain muscle mass and strength as we age.
👉🏼 The stronger and healthier your muscle is, the more carbohydrates and fat your body burns, keeping your body in balance.
For example, if you have high blood sugar or high cholesterol, the more muscle you have, the more capacity your body has to lower blood sugar and improve lipid markers.
Muscle is your metabolic currency. The more healthy the skeletal muscle you have, the better your chances of survival, increased metabolic health, and overall wellness.
Muscle holds the key to longevity. To keep your muscles strong, maintain a healthy weight, eat right and exercise regularly.
