Sometimes smoke has some good qualities. It created this stunning lighting on my favorite waterfall a few weeks ago! Still amazed by how this one turned out! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today though, smoke is not so good and I'm hoping for some relief from the fires soon. Thank you to all who are working around the clock to get these things under control. Unfortunately, it seems like this is what normal is going to look like moving forward in least August and September in the west. 😒 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you made it this far in my caption... thank you, but here's a little side story for this photo. A lens cloth or, I should say, many lens cloths are a must when photographing this waterfall for all of the mist and water droplets that get onto your lens while shooting. When I got here and started getting out my gear, my heart sank as I realized, I forgot all of my cloths. I decided that my shirt could make a decent replacement, so there I was in the middle of it all, shirtless, and using my shirt to clean off my lens after every photo. It did the job, mostly, but oils and sunscreen residue had seeped into the shirt, so for many of the photos, there was a sheen on the lens, which ruined them. Luckily a few turned out including this one, the last shot of the day, and it just so happens to be my favorite shot I've taken of these falls! I guess it just shows that you've always got to give it a shot when you're out there!
