Autumn Equinox πŸ‚πŸŒŠ today sees the balance tip towards darkening days and the promise of colder temperatures . Once the water temperature starts getting into the low teens and then under 10c I really start to get the therapeutic effects from the sea. It’s something about that cold that just resets everything. It helps me mentally and physically. That connection with nature is so important ,but also that cold hit is such a bonus!❄️ I’m often asked about how and when to get started so I thought I’d share πŸ™πŸ§œπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ’™ If you have always fancied giving cold water swimming a try then now is a great time to start. That’s what I did 12/13 years ago when I started winter swimming right through . If you try to get in the water at least once or twice a week ( preferably more though) you can acclimatise gradually as the temperature declines over the coming weeks. There are some fantastic groups if you don’t fancy going alone. @mentalhealthswims @thebluetits @blueballscornwall To name a few , they have lots of local groups. Also the original and the best resource @theoutdoorswimmingsociety check out https://www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com/ for loads of helpful articles about how to get started with cold water swimming and loads of inspiration! Im also really enjoying reading The Cold Fix by @bumblebarnes... Sara asks the questions β€œ what is it about the cold water that affects us so intensely? And β€œwhat is the cold fix?” She travels to swim with many others with an obsession for cold water , to explore and understand better the bond that binds the outdoor swimming community together. loads of great inspiration and help to get started πŸ₯ΆπŸŒŠβ„οΈπŸ§œπŸ»β€β™€οΈ
