Extreme heat and long dry spells exacerbated by the climate crisis have left reservoirs in some areas of Spain with only 13% of the water they typically hold. The lack of water has uncovered landmarks that haven’t been seen since the 1950s. ‘The situation is quite dramatic in the sense that it's been several years without rain and we're hitting rock bottom,’ shop owner Francisco Bazaga told Reuters. ‘If it doesn't rain, unless they find some alternative water supply, the future is very, very dark.’ July was Spain’s hottest month since 1961 and parts of Spain’s Iberian peninsula are drier than they’ve been in 1,200 years. Meteorologists think the dry, hot weather will persist at least through the fall. #Spain #heat #globalwarming
