Special shout out to this man @eugenegruberjewelry and his wife Deidre! Eugene reached out to me a few years ago asking to send me a gift as a fan. I accepted and received the first arm band pictured (when you swipe left). I was taken back by this generous hand made gift! I then wore it in all the @timesofgrace promotional shots and have him credit. He then insisted on sending me another one (see picture 3) and I offered to pay for his amazing work, he refused and said my music and words were enough to justify him making and sending me the arm band! I was blown away. So I decided to wear both of these every night onstage for the Omens tour we just finished with @lambofgod. I also learned Eugene had done the same for @drandallblythe and others! We then played close to Eugene’s home in New Mexico he came to the show with his wife Deidre and I was able to meet them and then thank him in person for his generous and meaningful gifts. I gave Eugene a shout out from stage and mentioned he was of the Navajo Nation. The crowd went wild and with voices and cheers. I then asked by a show of hands who in the audience was Navajo and the sound and show of hands was explosive! It was a moment I will not forget, the support and love of a people who have been treated like second class citizens in the country have always been supportive, kind and quick to lend a hand. I think of Eugene every time I wear these cuffs and I am reminded of the struggles and mistreatment of the Native people of this land. It is a topic that is often cast aside and unspoken. For all of those tribal people who I have met, had conversations and experiences with please know I am aware and empathetic to the plight of your people. Your culture and way of life is a beautiful model to how we as humans should be living, closer to the earth and in balance with nature. Thank you again Eugene for your gifts, generosity and skills.
