Bugri Naabu, the Paramount Chief of the Namong Traditional Area in the North East Region, openly threatening and intimidating delegates that any northerner who votes for Kennedy Agyapong instead of their “brother” Bawumia will be banished from their constituency or community, is the most dangerous form of tribal politics Ghana has ever seen. This kind of reckless and foolish conduct has the potential to create deep divisions among the various ethnic groups within the NPP. At a time when unity is needed the most, such intimidation only fuels hatred and destroys the very foundation of our democratic processes. We must pray that these backward tactics do not tear the party apart.
