Ethiopian culture & cuisine are very close to my heart; it was after all, my travels to Addis Ababa, Axum and Lalibela that inspired me to start @cross.cultures. I try to visit an Ethiopian restaurant whenever possible, and on my most recent trip to Los Angeles, I chanced upon Berbere (@berbere.sm) in Santa Monica, which describes itself as “Vegan food, Ethiopian twist.” 🇪🇹💚🌱🇪🇹 (*It’s run by husband-and-wife tandem, Chef Tezeta “Tete” Alemayehu and Tsega-Ab “Bicko” Fenta, who used to operate T&T Lifestyle at Smorgasburg LA and at various pop-ups.) I went for one of their Chef’s Picks: ET Twist Tacos, made with potatoes, lentils, mushrooms, awaze, cilantro, and drizzled with their homemade tangfaye sauce. And Sinig: jalapeños stuffed with onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, turmeric, cilantro, and served with injera. They were both excellent!!
