MCA Denver Museum Thursday, April 28, 6:30-9:30pm A conversation with LOS JAICHACKERS (Eamon Ore-Giron and Julio Cesar Morales) and Miranda Lash, MCA Denver Curator, to discuss Eamon Ore Giron’s current exhibition at MCA and the themes of music threaded throughout his practice. Then, LOS JAICHACKERS will speak about their origins and influences and present their video Subterranean Homesick Cumbia, shot on location in the Amazon. The night concludes like any good night should; with a DJ set by none other than LOS JAICHACKERS. OPENING RECEPTION: APRIL 30, 2022, 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sonic Terrains in Latinx Art is a major exhibition of Latinx sound practices, extending from the early avant-gardism of sound art to new interdisciplinary art forms. This exhibition, which features an intergenerational roster of 30 artists and collectives, aims to establish new directions in the field of Latinx art history by foregrounding the conceptual and experimental nature of Latinx sound practitioners. Artists in the exhibition utilize sound in dynamic and varied outputs, including visual art, performance, spoken word, music, pirate radio, public protest, and social practice.
