This is not something I do often, I am by no means a prolific author, but the #Torah teaches us not to stand idle while your brother’s blood is being shed. After what happened in #France with the #SarahHalimi trial - Social media went into a frenzy. People where posting about the insane verdict. I too posted as well, and people were asking me “what can be done?” So it got me thinking.. if we want to truly be effective what can we do?! This is unfortunately not the first #AntiSemitic Incident, but recently it’s become more and more prevalent to the point where people aren’t even surprised anymore. This just can’t go on. We CANNOT get desensitized to moral outrages. People are starting to draw comparisons to the 1930s Nazi Germany and of course some people say they are dramatizing and others saying “who knows”. But while conflict in Israel between the Arabs & Jews is unfortunately common, Europe and America have seen a rise in anti-Semitic behavior on social media as well as physical acts of violence. The question now becomes what as Jews and of course the rest of the world including political bodies organizations and just ordinary citizens can do to a eradicate such behavior? I’m no scholar and thousands of articles have been published regarding and surrounding anti-Semitism but I want to make a couple short points. 1) as #Jews we are way too apologetic constantly trying to apologize for things that we have NOT done or what another Jew did. Of course when a person wears a yarmulke or dresses like a Jew in public they are an ambassador and expected to represent their faith, but it is all too common for us to have to answer for what one or two individuals do wrong. 2) Proud Jew - all too often we are embarrassed to wear clothes or even to say that we are Jewish. Why is it this way? Why are we embarrassed? We have such a rich and illustrious history - something we should be extremely proud of. *please continue in the comments* May HaShem bring #Moshiach speedily in our days!!
