Sorry not sorry. I’m not saying this is the case for all dermatologists but in my experience, they have never asked me anything about my lifestyle before prescribing me medication. Prescription medications did work for me but they don’t solve the root cause.
In my opinion, retinoids are overprescribed. Most people don’t need it. For example, one of my friends started getting mild acne as an adult and the dermatologist told her that it wouldn’t clear up if she didn’t use retinoids 😐. I happened to know that my friend took antiobiotics recently and she was having some stomach issues so I recommended that she try the probiotic supplement from @thenue_co. After about a month, she no longer had acne. Obviously, this won’t work for everyone but in my friend’s case, she had some gut issues that led to acne. Treating that solved her skin problems.
There’s nothing wrong with using prescription medications but I think dermatologists should spend some more time getting the whole picture before they hand out prescriptions.
