Hip Mobilizations and Acquiring New Range of Motion
Have you been stretching those hips and can’t seem to gain any lasting or effective changes in mobility or increased range of motion❓
As part of other manual therapies, an effective tool for the hip joint is to use a mobilization belt, which allows the clinician to create space at the joint level and work through certain restrictions that otherwise are hard to access, especially with such a large and strong joint like the hip
🔰Typically, this will be used in conjunction with soft tissue work of the musculature around the hips such as the the hip flexors, glutes, and adductors to relax the tissue and make the belt mobilizations more effective
🔰Another technique demonstrated in the second video is a contract-relax or PNF technique designed to decrease muscle guarding and relax the patients perceived tension in order to access better internal rotation of the hip.
🔰Finally, we use the last drill to train and strengthen in that newly acquired range of motion so that these changes in ROM translate to effective strength and control on the field or court so you can #getbackinthegame
