There is an old and sad programming in our subconscious to only go grandiose when either a socially acceptable level of achievement has been reached or when you’re at your lowest point. There was no occasion. Just life, love, blessings and tbh, I think that’s enough to bring the gatsby out of me, and gather old and new friends to share a farm to table sunset meal together. Because the truth is, we never really need a reason to begin with. This is your sign to light all your fancy candles, wear a fancy dress on a dumb Monday, pop open that champagne bottle you’ve been saving. Things and “that” special stuff does not last forever. The special cookies go stale, the special tea loses the special aroma, the special dress gets mysterious stains or mysteriously shrinks, special dishes somehow get chipped, special markers dry out. Stop waiting for the fabled day when you convince yourself you finally deserve it. Whatever “it” is and just know you deserve it now. life’s so mindblowingly short.
