McMullen’s first location was on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. We sourced furniture from local flea markets and our dear friends (you all know who you are) helped us set up lighting and everything in between to get up and running. Our fearless leader, @sherri.mcmullen opened McMullen in 2007 full of hope and gratitude. The community welcomed us with open arms and with @sherri.mcmullen’s keen eye for curation and style, we soon outgrew our beloved first store and moved into our Grand Avenue location in 2010. Our love for fashion, emerging brands, food, film and the arts quickly turned our dear clients into family and we outgrew our 2nd store which led us to our current flagship in downtown Oakland in 2018. We loved working with the talented @redmondaldrichdesign to bring @sherri.mcmullen original McMullen vision board to life. Sherri’s love for the 70s era from the cool vibes, funky fashion and sexy lighting echos from every corner of the store. In 2019, we expanded to Palo Alto to better serve that market, but with a global pandemic, fate had other plans and we sadly had to close those doors. We’re so thankful for our Palo Alto friends that still make the trek to Oakland and shop us online. Each location and store brings back so many incredible memories of how we started with our now lifelong friends along the way that helped us get to our next adventure.
