🎓Grad Spotlight: Bruno Salles 🏠Hometown: Porto Alegre, Brazil 📚Major: Accounting ✏️Honors Impact: Nebraska Honors motivated me to be a better student through its GPA requirement and gave me access to unique, enriching classes beyond the traditional curriculum. One of the highlights was the Beatles 395H seminar—my favorite class—which expanded my perspective through music, history, and culture. Overall, Honors inspired academic discipline and offered meaningful, unconventional learning experiences that shaped my time at UNL. 🤝Campus Involvements: I was actively involved in Beta Alpha Psi, where I served as the Recruitment and Retention Chair, gaining valuable leadership experience. Through the organization, I had the opportunity to compete at national conferences in Las Vegas, Orlando, San Diego, and Dallas—earning first place with my team in two of those competitions. This involvement strengthened my communication, teamwork, and strategic thinking skills. 💡Advice: Get involved as early as possible! Companies are recruiting earlier each year, so joining at least one organization related to your major can make a big difference. It helps you build relevant experience for internships while also surrounding yourself with a community of peers who share your goals and can help you learn and grow faster. 💭Future Plans: I’ll be doing a Master of Professional Accountancy at UNL to get the credits I need to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). After that, I’ll either become a tax consultant or an auditor associate in one of the firms I interned with.
