Yosemite Day 2: Renting bikes in the valley! This was one of our favorite things we did and highly recommend (especially with kids!) You can either take advantage of the Yosemite shuttle busses to take you from place to place OR rent bikes at Curry Village or Yosemite village! We were so glad we opted for bikes and I can’t imagine a better way to get around and take in the scenery. (Plus, no waiting in lines for busses!) You can rent buggies for littles (with helmets, yes she had a helmet! These photos were just taken during breaks so she had her helmet off!) She had never been in one before and really just wanted to “ride daddy’s bike” (photo #6–Now & Then vibes) but once she figured out we were going to “ride fast” she was hooked 🤣 There are lots of great hikes and trails and sights you can ride to (Mist trail came highly recommended but we didn’t make it this time!) and the highlight of this day was absolutely our visit to Mirror Lake. There’s an easy trail you can do near the lake and then wade into the icy water to cool off! We brought our picnic lunch here and ate it on the beach. It was spectacular and June had the best time. Some other amazing spots: Superintendent’s bridge and Swinging Bridge. Both great for swimming/hanging/picnics. We would’ve loved to spend more time hanging in either of these spots! Another highly recommended spot was the Ahwahnee hotel for drinks, but sadly we didn’t make it this time bc #toddlers 🤪 Looks like a really cool hotel to stay at too and many of you had great things to say! Overall some expectations: the valley is really crowded and we were told it was “quiet” and to us it still felt like Disneyworld. 🤯 It was overwhelming. However, we had no problem finding parking at Curry Village around 9am and no issue with lines or availability renting bikes 🙌🏻 (which I’ve read isn’t usually the case earlier in the summer. So, if you want to plan a trip next year during the summer months, again, aim for late August! Otherwise, plan to get there before the bike shops open to get a spot in line!)
