SALON OWNER REALITIES.... Y’all, being a salon owner has it’s good days and bad days. I have a team of almost 50 stylists between my two locations, so I get my fair share of challenges. Since I have a lot of salon owners who follow me here, I’ve decided to start sharing some of the challenges I’ve personally faced and how I’ve dealt with them. This new client came into one of my Tier 2 commission stylists, who is very talented. She spent the good part of the day doing a corrective color on this client who had been seeing a stylist at a different salon for 6 years. After her service, she sent us a rather scathing email about how unhappy she was with her results. In the email she even threatened to report us to the BBB 🙃 (do people still use that?). A rule we have in the salon is stylists MUST take before and after pictures of each new client, or any other client receiving a transformative service. This has been hugely beneficial time and time again for myself and my manager to make decisions in situations like this. My stylist followed up with about 20 before and after pictures. Even though she received a client complaint, the very same day I promoted her to Tier 3. She did great work and followed salon policy to a T. She deserved the promotion. Salon owners: how would you have handled it?
