DIRECTED by #ShibonKennedy w/ @katiemccurdy_ PRESENTED by @wnba A @wearecousins__ PRODUCTION This film came out a few weeks ago, and I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the magnitude of this project — something I have poured my entire being into over the past 2 years / 11 months.... It’s my child basically and definitely my greatest work to date. When I set out to direct this in Chicago, Feb 2020, it was a different film in a very different world. After returning to everything shutting down amidst a pandemic, a global reckoning and ALL the personal challenges at once, I wasn’t sure this film would ever see the light of day. I wasn’t sure I could even get back to a space that I could productively re-concept, re-create and direct a film in such a changed world. But I found my fire again, and it was Angel McCoughtry @mccoughtry , Isabelle Harrison @omg_itsizzyb and Didi Richards @didirich2 who lit that flame ❤️‍🔥. So THANK YOU to these women who inspired every fiber of my being. I am so honored to have been trusted by this powerful 3 — to tell stories of such incredibly brilliant, dynamic, smart, talented women existing in a very under-represented, under-appreciated league; women who are so much more than solely hoopers.... And they are 3 of 144 women in a league that I can only hope to tell ALL their stories one day. REMINDER : stories like this are essential---- stories by women, about women.
