What is gender? Gender refers to the characteristics of i.e. women & men that are socially constructed. This includes norms, behaviours and roles - i.e. women are supposed to wear dresses and men suits. As social construct, gender varies from society to society and can change over time. I.E. Trousers now being worn by women as well or the color pink first being a masculine color and now a feminine one. Gender is hierarchical and produces inequalities that intersect with other social and economic inequalities. Therefor it is time to deconstruct the social construct.
