Our Hispanic Community Celebration this year featured Nestor Hernandez as our speaker, focusing on the importance of culture — both in terms of heritage and the everyday culture that shapes how we connect with others!⁠ ⁠ Nestor shared his personal journey of growing up in Puerto Rico, a Spanish-speaking U.S. territory, and navigating the challenges of attending college in the mainland United States. He spoke to our middle and upper school students about how he learned to embrace his identity and the deeper meaning of the great commandment: to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. This love, he emphasized, starts with accepting who God created you to be, allowing His love to fill you so that it can overflow to those around you.
