The garlic was planted at the allotment yesterday evening! I’ve gone heavy on the hardneck varieties mainly for the yummy green scapes (flower shoots) you can snip off and fry up - so delicious. Softneck can store better and usually have smaller but more plentiful cloves (they are the ones you find in the grocery store) but if I’m growing my own I prefer the hardneck. I bought them (full price) from @garlic_farm as they’ve been accredited organic by the @soilassociation which is exciting (and I’ve always wanted to go visit them!). The varieties of garlic I planted this year are: 🧄’Extra Early Wight’ (hardneck) 🧄’Caulk Wight’ (hardneck) 🧄’Carcassone Wight’ (hardneck) 🧄’Rhapsody Wight’ (the softneck) 🐘 Elephant garlic (not technically garlic but looks like it but is ginormous and tastes mild). . 🥦 Ignore the rogue purple sprouting broccoli - we’ll see if it lasts and if it does might swamp a few of the garlic but I didn’t have the heart to dig it up. 🚼 I meant to post this last night then got knocked sideways by a migraine (just seeing the other side of it now). I realise I need to post right away or else the content gets lost in a sea of baby pics!
