Last week hit the 4 year marker since I opened Transform. Coincidentally enough, I had been out of town, and when I returned I had the most personal, thoughtful and sweet thank you note from a client. I’ve received several thank you notes and cards since opening, but this one hit me a little different. I’ll keep the contents of the letter private, but what I will say is as an instructor/owner you think and hope you are making a positive impact on someone’s life, but to see it written was one of the most fulfilling and gratifying feelings I’ve experienced in a long time. It really got me to reflect on the past 4 years. I believe 90% of the reason people work out is not physical. There is something internal that people are hoping to release or gain by movement. My hope for Transform was to create an experience so that when people left they felt better about themselves, not just physically. A community of inclusivity, positivity and generosity. A place that for just 30-60 minutes people could disconnect and be 100% selfish to focus on themselves. This past year has 100% been the hardest year of my professional career. I don’t speak about it much because I know there are 1000’s small business owners in Denver alone going thru the same thing as me. I don’t need sympathy, I just want to show gratitude. I’ve always thrived in discomfort. Not sure why, but it’s always when I get the most motivated and focused. To a community that is die hard and bleeds Transform, that works harder than any fitness market I’ve ever worked in, that builds up those around them and reminds me every day of why I’m SO proud of the business I have created. To a staff that works their ass off and goes above and beyond whether asked to or not because they love this community so much. The success of Transform is not just me, without the staff I have we would not be where we are. And I’m deeply grateful for them. Y’all inspire me daily. Thank you Rachel for the kindest note and reminding me that even in the shittiest year ever we are impacting peoples lives in the most positive way, and that is exactly why I opened this business.
