Evolved from Phil Smart’s innovative and well received ‘Slow Dance Experiment’ concept, Tempo Comodo is a new party series further exploring the slower realms of danceable beats. From 70bpm downtempo to midtempo chug, anything under 120bpm is fair game as long as it's made for dancing! Joining us on the lineup this week for the first time is jonny seymour. jonny seymour is a non binary music producer, curator, broadcaster, sound stylist, animal liberationist, vegan, queer activist, deep agathist and major collaborator. They work with artists & institutions across many disciplines including dance, film, design, theatre, song & experimental art forms. They produce music under various aliases including @stereogamous (with @apaulmac) Cubby (with @nickwalesmusic) and has worked with artists such as @electricfields_music @georgemofficial , @kylieminogue , @gracejonesofficial , @rufusdusol , @siamusic , @bettygrumble @thepresets , @ladyjanebeach @BrendanMaclean, @JamaicaMoana and @shaunjwright They are a “friend of Carriageworks” and collaborate with cultural institutions such as The Powerhouse Museum, Performance Space, Sydney Mardi Gras, Force Majeure, The Red Rattler, National Gallery of Victoria, Sydney Opera House, 107 Projects, Belvoir Street and Sydney Theatre Company. They bring over a quarter of a century of lived experience of night-time culture, the AIDS epidemic, the generational and gentrification shifts in community spaces, and the intrinsic importance of music plates in all these intersections. For queer community music is one of our ephemeral but essential safe spaces. Reinterpretation of queer anthems and sacred songs are woven into every dj set.
