MARBELLA CLUB TOMATO GARDEN: The Inspiration ✨ . 🇬🇧 The inspiration of my Marbella Club Tomato Garden with its “tipies” and parterres among the grass has been the beautiful “Conservatoire de la Tomate” by the Prince Louis Albert de Broglie in his Château de la Bourdaisière in the Loire valley. “The Prince Jardinier” started his passion for tomatoes when he bought this beautiful château 25 years ago. He was inspired by the traditional XIX centuries French “potagers”. He collected tomato seeds from all over the world and cultivates some 750 different heritage tomato species. Each year, in the second weekend in September, he organises the “Festival de la tomate et des Saveurs”, where some 5000 local and international tomato-lovers come and participate.

For Marbella Club, I selected and planted 60 different heritage tomatoes from my own tomato seed bank. A large part of them are seeds that I have collected from tomatoes that Prince Louis Albert de Broglie gave me from his Tomato Conservatory.
